Polyether polyols are organic polymers produced by the polymerization reaction of initiators (such as glycerol) with ethylene oxide (EO), propylene oxide (PO), etc., in the presence of catalysts. Polyether polyols have various uses, mainly including the following aspects:
Production of foam materials: Polyether polyols can be used to produce both aromatic and aliphatic versions of rigid foam, widely applied in refrigerators, refrigerated trucks, insulation boards, and pipe insulation.
Manufacturing polyurethane products: They are important raw materials for producing polyurethane soft foam, rigid foam, coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers.
Solvents and preservatives: Polyether polyols can be used as solvents to dissolve various substances, synthesize dyes, polymers, bactericides, pesticides, lubricants, and cosmetics. Additionally, they can act as preservatives to extend the shelf life of food.
Surfactants: Polyether polyols can be used as detergents, lubricants, dispersants, and emulsifiers to enhance surface cleaning and lubrication performance.
Other applications: Polyether polyols can also be used to produce foam stabilizers, defoamers for the paper industry, crude oil demulsifiers, efficient low-foam detergents, lubricants, quenching agents, latex foaming agents, rubber lubricants, and surfactants.
These diverse applications make polyether polyols play an important role in multiple industries.
